The short version
Wearology brings weather and wardrobe inspiration together. We don’t sell your personal information or use advertising trackers. Your clothing photos aren’t sent to an AI backend. Optional analytics and diagnostics help us understand what works, and you can turn them off in Settings.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Wearology handles information in the Wearology app and on wearology.app. Wearology is responsible for the information described here. For questions or requests about your information, use our support form and select “Privacy request.”
2. Your wardrobe and photos
Wearology stores your wardrobe items and outfit arrangements on your device. Personal wardrobe data, including saved garment images, can sync through Apple’s iCloud using your private CloudKit database when iCloud is available. Bundled starter collections are separate from your personal wardrobe.
When you choose or take a clothing photo, the app processes it on your device to create a garment cutout. The resulting garment image may be saved with the wardrobe item and synced through iCloud. Wearology does not upload your source clothing photos to an AI service. On-device clothing and combination naming may use Apple’s on-device capabilities.
Camera and photo access are used for features you choose. You can manage these permissions in your device’s Settings. Removing an item in the app removes it from your wardrobe; iCloud changes depend on synchronization and Apple’s retention and backup behavior.
3. Location and weather
If you grant location permission, Wearology uses your location to retrieve relevant weather information through Apple’s weather services. You can also search for a place. Location, selected places, and weather information may be processed or cached to provide the forecast. Apple processes weather and location requests under its own policies.
We do not include precise coordinates or searched city names in analytics. You can revoke location access in your device’s Settings and use place search instead.
4. Optional analytics and diagnostics
We use PostHog, hosted in the United States, to collect limited usage and diagnostic information. This includes an anonymous installation identifier, session identifiers, timestamps, app and operating-system versions, general device characteristics, locale, named feature interactions, purchase and restore outcomes, and crash or error diagnostics. The installation identifier can connect events across app launches; it is not your name or an advertising identifier.
We do not send clothing photos, garment names, canvas contents, precise locations, searched cities, payment details, or transaction identifiers to PostHog. Automatic screen and tap recording, session replay, and advertising tracking are disabled. Error reports are filtered to avoid raw recoverable-error messages and native exception reasons, while retaining technical stack information needed to diagnose crashes. IP anonymization is enabled for ingested events, although network services necessarily receive connection information when requests are made.
To stop new collection, open Settings → Privacy → Share analytics & diagnostics in Wearology and turn it off. Your choice persists. Turning it off is not a request to delete earlier data, and previously queued events may still be delivered.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
Apple handles purchases, payments, and subscriptions through the App Store. Wearology verifies subscription entitlements to provide paid features. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings. Limited purchase and restore outcomes may be included in optional analytics as described above.
6. Support messages
When you submit our support form, we receive your name, email address, category, subject, message, and any device or app-version information you supply. Our backend creates a GitHub issue in Wearology’s support repository with these details so we can investigate and respond. GitHub processes and stores this information as a service provider. You don’t need a GitHub account to contact us.
Please don’t include passwords, payment information, private photographs, or other sensitive information. We use the email address you supply to handle your request, not for marketing. Technical connection information may be used temporarily to limit abuse and keep the form available.
7. This website
The website does not use analytics cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party font services. Our hosting service processes standard request information, such as IP address, browser information, and requested pages, to deliver and secure the site. The support form sends data only when you submit it.
8. Sharing, retention, and security
Information is processed by the services needed to operate these features, including Apple, PostHog, GitHub, and our website hosting provider. Information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect our services and users. We do not sell personal information.
We retain support messages and diagnostic information for as long as reasonably needed to resolve requests, improve reliability, and meet legal obligations. On-device and iCloud data remain subject to your actions and Apple’s storage and backup behavior. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information, object to certain processing, or complain to a data-protection authority. We process information to provide requested features and support, maintain and secure the service, comply with legal obligations, and, where applicable, with your consent.
Use our support form for a privacy request. We may need to verify the request and may be unable to connect an anonymous analytics record to you without additional information. You can also manage app permissions, opt out of analytics, remove wardrobe items, and manage your iCloud storage through Apple’s settings.
10. Children and policy changes
Wearology is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information through support or analytics. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us.
We may update this policy as the app and services evolve. The date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law.
